Associated with a number of modern art movements—Fauvism, Cubism, and Der Blaue Reiter group, among others—Derain worked alongside the era’s most important artists including Matisse, Picasso, and the writer Guillaume Apollinaire. This print comes from a collaboration with the latter, a tome entitled L’Enchanteur pourrissant, which was published by the legendary art dealer Henry Kahnweiler in 1909.
